Merry Christmas, and welcome to Lifting the Lid on December 2018, our last Lift Off of 2018! Where has the year gone? It seems to have flown by.
As you’ll know if you’ve watched our other Lift Off shows in the series we produce a monthly behind the scenes sneak peek into our business. This month you’ll see the importance we place on celebration and networking. We are passionate about workplace mental health and well-being and keeping ourselves well. So as a small business we met up with our closest contacts, either to celebrate or to share learning and support. Jo and Beverly had Colleagues on Tap Christmas parties in Newcastle and Darlington, where homeworkers and freelancers have their own Christmas celebration.
Homeworking doesn’t have to mean you don’t have colleagues.
We also had a great boost from the thanks we’ve received. It’s lovely that clients take the time out to say thank you. Our clients are fab.
As we’re a HR company we do a lot of “confidential stuff” too which we obviously can’t show, but this month we’ve helped with a lot of issues where the learning for our clients has truly given light bulb moments:
Sometimes being too caring makes you lose sight of policy and procedure.
If you’re in trouble as an employee, surround yourself with people who will give you honest and constructive feedback. Sometimes those closest give an emotional response that leads you down the wrong path.
Just because an employee is the best in a role doesn’t mean they can behave as they like. Have a succession strategy so that you have more than one specialist in the business.
Just some of the issues that have arisen this month.
Have a fabulous Christmas. Here’s to 2019! We’ve got loads planned so keep in touch!
